Coffee

The Idea:
It was back in 2015. I guess I was in the lunch room, and just want to write something about coffee. Out of blue...just like that. The story was not really that interesting, in fact kind of weird. But hey, it is what it is. A story based on a prompt. This time, it's Coffee!

The Story:
I can give you thousands reasons of why I drink coffee every morning from this cafe. But seeing you sad it's not one.

It was fun to watch. Across the street, just right in front of the window. You were there, with balloons in your hand.

How those kids would do any simple thing to get the free balloons. Some would do right away, some needed encouragement. Oh, how great you were encouraging them.

But today...no kids...no balloons. You just sat there, sad.

A mother and a kid came in to the cafe.

"Mom, why she does not have balloons? We always get one from her." I could not help myself to overheard the answer.

"Balloons does not make her happy anymore, because no man want to take her to the dance". The kid saw me, and quickly she ran to me

"You, sir, will you ask her to the dance?". I did not answer.

"Come on sir, so she'll be happy, and kids can get balloon" Still, I was quite as mouse.

"What are you waiting for? She is just right there" She pointed out. Those little bright eyes, who could say no to them.

So I walked straight. Smile in my face, butterfly in my stomach.

"Hey" I said

"Hey" You answered faintly.

"Heard you want to go to the dance" Not sure. You just looked at me with no expression.

"Heard you don't have a partner" Again, I was not so sure. You blinked twice.

"Do you want to go with me?" For sure, I knew I was not sure what the answer would be.

But then, you smiled....a beautiful smile. Kids were running from all sides with balloon on their hand. Colorful balloon with one thing the same, they were all printed  with the word 'YES'. The Mother and Kid were among the crowd.

"Thank you for the coffee." You glanced to the cup that I secretly put for you every morning. Never thought you would know, but you knew.

"Thank you for always there. I always count on you as my audience even when no one else was around" You took one of the balloon from the kid and gave it to me.

"Hope you like this flash mass mob. And yes, I always dream to go to the dance with you."
